What needs to happen going forward?
The bin with extra hard liquor should have had clear signage designating it as a reserve bin and instructing event staff at the event to contact the on-call person before opening it. 

When staff at the event contact the person on call, we need to know:
  • Number of guests at the event, broken down by adults of drinking age and children not of drinking age. 
  • The consumption pattern of high-demand (e.g. Drinking more vodka relative to Tequila)
  • Confirm that bartenders are serving guests responsibly (e.g. bartenders are not overserving guests with too many shots). 
  • Attempts to cross-sell other beverages to slow the high consumption liquor (e.g. Suggesting beer, wine, and other hard liquor). 

If more people at the event consume alcohol than the customer paid for the on-call staff must escalate this to the host decision-maker. We need budget approval from the host to increase the number of guests on the alcohol package and to cover the delivery fee for additional alcohol. Alternatively the host can choose to continue the service with the alcohol on hand without an increase. If the budget is approved, immediately email the host to confirm the increased budget and guest count, copying the whole team. If the host refuses the budget increase for more alcohol we also need to immediately send an email documenting this with a cc to the whole team.
